Got the tr8 vrt,d yesterday.Made appointment in Greenhills very pleasant girl came out with the clipboard, check took 15 mins,no issues with not having chassis no on car itself, the original plate was ok.Also my body is a Californian one so had reflectors in rear wing,i just covered them in gaffer tape,no problem. She then took about another 15 mins and i had my new ZV plate. She said to give it a couple of working days before trying to tax it to let paperwork go through. No nct required(my 1st date registered is March 1980,built in 1979).Having heard all the horror srories about the process i come to the conclusion its just luck where you go and who you get.I have to say i could definitly recommend the Greenhills Office.
Anyway got my plate in Ashmore Interparts,They cost 30euros(bit of a shock).Went to my garage to fit them and removed the old plates. These were stuck on with double sided tape and left a load of residue, took lighter fluid to shift. What should have been a 10 min job took 40 mins.My advice drill and self tap, much cleaner way.
Anyway next job was to try the taunnau cover for the first time.Only then realised need to be a cross between a wrestler and a gynocoligist to get it to fit,my nails are ruined!!Any tips from the members most appriciated.
Started to detail the engine bay, polishing rocker covers, cleaning ht leads. Will start to paint nxt week.
